What we learned at Accountex 2025

TL/DR
What do you get when you combine more than 50 eager vendors with thousands of accounting and bookkeeping professionals? You get two days of warp speed information exchange. And if you’re lucky, a 3D-printed parrot, delightful squishy stress ball, or plush moose.

So many good conversations, so little time

A six-foot-tall banner to adorn the back of the booth with our logo. Video screens and presentations. Purple t-shirts, fresh and laundered, just like our beautiful faces. Check, check, and check! Accountex 2025 was a two-day sprint of insightful conversations with accounting and bookkeeping professionals from across Canada and around the world. It all went by so fast, it’s a bit of a blur. But, looking back, here are a few key takeaways.

AI is everywhere

Six out of 24 speaker sessions mentioned AI in the title. This is no surprise considering nearly half of accountants now use AI daily to tackle manual, tedious tasks and make larger ones more manageable.

And when we introduced Roy, our AI-powered CFO, you were more than curious about how it could look at financial data. And all of this was balanced with the perspective that AI is a tool, just like automation. It’s there to help and support the human, not replace them. Instead, it simplifies what you enjoy least, letting you focus on what you do best.

Financial data is seriously disconnected

Whether it’s an abundance of tools and tech or a lack thereof, accountants, bookkeepers, and businesses alike either have too much data spread across too many places, or they’re not getting a clear, simple perspective on the data they have.

Time and again, we heard and felt your exasperation from switching tabs, remembering logins, and piecing together your own solutions — all before you even get to looking at the data as a whole.

Seriously, where’s the value in that? It’s exactly this kind of frustration that led our founders to create a dashboard that connects financial data rather than fragment it.

There’s always a place for payroll

Free payroll, you say? Well, that got your attention, and for good reason. Payroll is one of the biggest administrative and compliance burdens for small businesses. If you can find a simple solution, like free payroll software for up to five employees for a year, it just makes sense to learn more. Especially if you have small business clients who have five employees or less, and you want to show them the value of automating pay runs, ROEs, and year-end T4s.
