CRA Audit Support
Relax. Let us take the terror out of an audit request with our team of Tax specialists who will navigate you through the process
This mini requires you to have an up-to-date chart of accounts for the financial year you wish to file (all transactions must fully identified and reconciled). This chart of accounts will need to be in a browser-based cloud accounting platform (we support Xero, Quickbooks Online, Wave, Freshbooks and Sage Online) which is able to allow our Tax team remote access.
If your chart of accounts is not up-to-date, consider letting one of our bookkeeping experts do it for you.
Who is this for?
Sometimes your tax return can trigger an audit with the Tax authorities. Typically this happens automatically when the CRA's computers notice something they don't expect. Sometimes it can be that you've been randomly chosen by their system - a new incorporated company is likely to be audited in their first few years of trading. So a request for audit doesn't mean you've done something wrong! Of course it's easy to panic when the CRA's bed-side manner is somewhat lacking and the language they use can sound downright scary. But fear not - our well-worn team of Tax experts are well used to dealing with the CRA, and can help you navigate through an audit with no stress.
What do you need to provide?
You will need an up-to-date chart of accounts for the financial year that is being audited. This means that all transactions must be fully identified and reconciled, and you must be satisfied that the year-end balance shown is truthful and accurate to the best of your knowledge, and those numbers match the return you filed. Your chart of accounts must be in a browser-based cloud accounting platform (we support Xero, Quickbooks Online, Wave, Freshbooks and Sage Online) which is able to provide remote access to our Tax team - typically this is done by adding an advisor in the account settings. You will also need to provide confirmation that you have all relevant receipts and invoices saved in a physical or digital format for reference, as required by law. Please make sure you can provide all of these things prior to purchasing this mini.
What do you get?
Every audit is a little different, but our team will work with you to ensure that your books and records are in compliance with CRA regulations and that you are prepared for any questions that may arise during the audit process. We will also provide you with guidance on how to respond to any requests for information from the CRA and help you negotiate any proposed adjustments or penalty recommendations. We'll provide you additionally with email support throughout your audit.
How long will it take?
If you have all your accounts in order and respond promptly to any requests, it will typically take us around 1-2 weeks to prepare you for audit from the initial booking. It will also depend on how complex your accounts are, and the CRA's own timelines - but you will get email support throughout the process where we can update you on our progress as we proceed.
What happens after you purchase this mini?
After payment you'll need to fill in a brief form for our team so they can prepare for your accounts arriving, and choose a time to talk with our tax team by private video call. In this brief 30 minute call we'll ask you some questions about your current situation, finances and prior tax returns - along with answering any questions you may have. We'll then mutually agree on a plan (and timeline) and get started immediately on your supporting your audit.
All our services have a 100% satisfaction guarantee. If the service doesn’t meet the requirements of the receiving professional or authority then we’ll either fix it for you or refund the full amount. Likewise if your situation is not compatible with this mini, we’ll refund you the full amount.
